Well, i planned that every month i shall introduce a new band to u all, part of my weird and outstanding music collection. I shall start off my review with this extraodinary band from Italy. the band name Ephel Duath is in fact the mountain range that defends the kingdom of evil in Tolkien’s masterpiece.

This band started off in 1998 only as a duo.
Apart from their demo album "Opera", Ephel Duath has 2 fantastic studio album under the record label Code666, "Phormula", "The painters pallete" and also reissue of phormula, "Rephormula" with bonus tracks of which ill review later.. Now guess what….. as i am writing this review i also happen to find out that they are gonna release a new album….. tomoro!!!!!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! cant wait. damn, btw the new albums titled "The Pain Neccessary To Know". it would be a pain if i dont get this album!

To continue… now just after the release of their first album, Giuliano decides to quit the band which leaves Davide at risk to manage the band alone. but the relese of Rephormula managed to get him some time to get the band back up again.

Good enough on 2003, they relese another absolutely awesome album, my favorite, The Painters Pallete, with a quite unique line up. What made the band unique and bizzare is that in this modern time thay have managed to create a whole new genre of their own. Well many ppl cant classify them to a proper category, but i would like to call this album progressive death jazz. argh! awesomeness!
The best part of ephel duath’s story or the main reason of this new genre comes from the drummer Davide Piovesan He’s a 47-year-old percussion instrument and polyrhythmic teacher with a Jazz-Blues background. yup thats righ jazz…. he had no aquaintance at all to metal. The next recruit is a highly experienced bass player of Prog-Fusion
extraction, Fabio Fecchio, also quite lacking in his knowledge of
extreme Metal. The melodic voice of the group is Davide Tolomei, an old
friend of Davide Tiso. The last selection to be made was the front man Lucio Lorusso. Davide Tiso remains the band’s only guitarist and also the heart and soul of Ephel Duath. With this crazy combo put together, comes alive this bizzare and one of a kind album. Awesomenessss!!!
