Review:
"The Painter’s Palette" is complex, insane and extremely progressive
and cannot be measured by usual standards. Here everything is thrown
over and put together anew and still you do not lose the focus in the
least. Here and there with some horn parts or some weird arrangements
your neck hair will stand up, but as the album goes by, these unusual
characteristics get more and more familiar. "The Unpoetic Circle", "The
Picture" or "My Glassy Shelter" are only three examples for the whole
album, showcasing which great feats this band is capable of. The intention of EPHEL DUATH is to give colour through their sounds or,
if you prefer, to play the sound of colours. Every song is depicted by
a different chromatic shade, where the listener’s mind becomes a
painting with infinite possibilities of sounds and colours, musical
tonalities and contrasting hues.- The Metal Observer
The best crossover’s i ‘ve heard. Awesomeness. If u are a weird freak, where weird unexpected sounds just raises ur hair, then this is for u. i dont expect u to accept this album right away, takes a few listens, then its in ur head, although the music is hard to decipher. the best album to listen as an introduction to ephel duath.

Review:
If u listen to Dillinger, Cynic, Opeth, Emperor and a variety of old jazz
fusion bands, then ephel duath is exceedingly dense, highly layered and very
diffficult to get into. It’s also one of the few black metal albums
that truly manages to sound scary.
It’s extremely difficult to put the EPHEL DUATH-sound into words,
because once you get used to a certain direction, it suddenly performs
a 180-degree-turn and back again.
